The beginning of a journey

This blog is dedicated to share a story of bravery, disappointment, friendship, and adventure. A journey started from a small talk between two classmates about how messed up our plan to do double degree program (twinning). No one could ever know that from the small unimportant chat could create a big hope and dream.

Well, although our journey was born from disappointment of our previous college's system. We are fully aware that we have to thank them as their flaw has became our source of confidence and bravery to fly thousands and thousands of miles to come and learn in new country. It is not an easy choice for all of us to leave our loved ones back home and start a new life, face new challenge (don't forget harder). But we have come to our senses that we have to take a leap in order to be able to grab our dreams, our hopes for our future in which our previous education institution wasn't able to support us with it.

The core problem that sparks our desire to seek greater support and better stepping stone is the clashing schedule between our college with another college in OZ as part of our double degree program. We were informed by our senior who already there in kangarooland that the semester will start on July. While in Jakarta, our semester will end on August. It means whether we have to rush to finish our thesis or we have to wait another semester to come there and do our degree.
If you haven't noticed, it means we have to finish our thesis in 2 months or we have to wait 6 months to go. It is either we have to sacrifice the quality of our thesis for the sake of time/speed or we have to postpone our graduation time. We have tried and tried to come to our so-called Head of School (HOS), and still no solution offered. But we were persistence, we seek the one whom responsible for our departure (operation staff) and she was insist that the schedules weren't clashed and has a confidence of a fool peacock that we will depart to OZ on-time without any problem.

It was approx. 5-6 months before we have to go to OZ. Since we were confused and definitely unsatisfied with the answers from the responsible persons. We had gathered information by emailing OZ college ourselves and ask about when the semester will be started; we even told them (HOS and operation staff) that we got the answer and we were right from the beginning. But it is too late. The most surprising response for so-called well-educated education worker, is they just tell us to finish our thesis in less than two months (from scratch, not to mention the survey and finishing chapter 3-4 if you know what I mean) or just go there in next semester.

For heaven's sake, we had bothered them for the past 5 months. Already gave them the evidence, and they didn't even give their effort to find out earlier and at least coordinate with their partner/colleague to solve things out. Finally, they were shocked and fully understand about what we have been bragging them for the past 5 months but it is all too late. After receiving same disappointing responses, we came to an idea that we have to solve things out. Quickly.

We all came to the university with one idea, to get an international standard of education. That's why we chose an international university with an alliance with overseas university and a chance to experience study life in other country. It sounds lame, but yes, it is an honest fact. We just want to cut down the time of being away from our families and friends and still got an overseas degree.

Then, the journey of seeking the right home to us begins.... we came to almost education agencies in Jakarta. Ask a lot of questions, did the calculations and voila, the Great Britain fits all our expectation and needs. The scope was getting smaller, time to choose an university. and the winner is University of Hertfordshire. Indonesian hardly can recognize this place but in here, the business school is considered as top choices for international students apart of the famous ones like Cambridge or LSE.

And yes, Herts is far better than our university. You can even count them right from the beginning *when you first stepped at this place*. Everything is more organized, the staff and lecturer are student-oriented. They open their doors for every needs of the students. They just want us , the student, to achieve results as high as possible.
